Saturday scrapping: This National Day, we're wishing you...

You can't really see it, but the lil birdie is sitting in a nest of twine...

... as well as comfort...

Some comfy things... roses, nice shoes, and cupcakes! :)

... in your home!

Graphic45 papers are rather quirky, aren't they?
Can you see Dorothy (from the Wizard of Oz) pointing at the little house?

~~~~~~~
We did up stars for our Papermarket assignment last month (which is going to be my last assignment before I pop!) to celebrate National Day, so here was my take!  Its done using a whole bunch of Papermarket Prima blooms, chipboard stickers from My Mind's Eye and patterned papers (mainly Graphic 45).  Do pop by the Papermarket blog to see the takes by the other design team members...
Do you have any plans for National Day yet?  Have a great weekend!
Saturday scrapping: Sun, sea and sand
I'm back to share another layout using some more Jenni Bowlin products...  This time, we were given flag stickers and bingo cards.  I didn't want to string the stickers in usual bunting style, so I ended up sticking them into "sand-castles" as little flags...
The sandcastles were made using beige cardstock, which were distressed with ink.
Then I smeared on a whole load of glue and started dabbing them furiously in a tray of sand!
... as well as using them as little kites:
Then add to that a little message in a bottle (with more sand of course)...
I squished in the date of the photo into the bottle.
The twine happened to be a happy accident, as the bottle refused to stick well to the paper (thanks to the sandy background, so I had to poke holes through the paper and thread the twine through to secure it!
... and you have all the elements you need for a happy, "beach boy" layout! :)  (Ok, I admit, trying to stick down all that sand was quite a nightmare, and I ended up with sand on the table, on the floor, and on myself... but I do like the final outcome!)
Papers: Jenni Bowlin, Beige, dark brown and kraft cardstock
Embellies: Jenni Bowlin flag stickers & bingo card, Tim Holtz bottle
Lettering: AC Thickers and Jenni Bowlin
I hope you've been having a lovely Saturday thus far.  Don't forget to take part in this week's scrappy giveaway if you have not (it closes tomorrow at noon ya?), and enjoy your weekend!
Saturday scrapping: Pottering with Papa
Hello!  Recently for our Papermarket assignment, we were given Jenni Bowlin products to work with. One of the things we got to play with were their very pretty butterflies...
To which were added baker's twine, wrapped around tiny spools...
And butterflies must have flowers to go with them, so here are some Papermarket Prima blooms...
And the full layout! (with loads of butterflies of course!)
Papers used were Core'dinations cardstock (the paper was sanded with sandpaper to bring out the leafy design),
along with some 7 Gypsies...
Hope you've been having a good weekend thus far!  Stay tuned, cos I'll be back later this weekend with a giveaway! (You can "like" our Facebook page too, so you won't miss out on updates...)
Saturday scrapping: Create a rainbow
Hello!  Hope you've been enjoying your weekend, even though its been raining like crazy this morning... anyway, am just popping in to share about a little project I just did for Papermarket:
You know those lovely "Create" signs that you sometimes see hanging in studios?  I thought I'd try making one of those, using flowers and buttons...
... cut out patterned papers (those are from My Mind's Eye) and punches...
... a Donna Downey stamp, plus old book papers for the backing (they were misted and then covered with white paint)...
... and stickles to make the bigger butterflies shine! :)
And to make all the alphabets (they were diecuts, and all sorts of colours) match, I painted them too...
... and there's my rainbow to inspire me to create!
Have a blessed weekend, and stay tuned for a giveaway tomorrow ok?
Saturday scrapping: Watching the planes
Just a quick post while I'm waiting for little boy to wake up... Junior J has recently had this interest in planes, so he was really excited when we flew on one a few days back... :)  He had fun pressing the buttons on the remote, and thankfully co-operated and wore his seatbelt when the plane started taxi-ing (we now have to pay for an extra seat for him).  We even got some time to watch "The King's Speech" (which was really good, btw) while he napped, and the flight was made really pleasant by a steward who insisted on giving us extra snacks, saying "parents must be taken care of". :)
So here's an LO done for Papermarket on a picture of Junior J and his papa watching the planes fly by in Pangkor, using the new My Mind's Eye collection, Stella and Rose (Its now available in Papermarket btw!):
I really love the strong, masculine colours of the Hattie line for the collection! :)
Ok, gotta run, hope everyone's been having a blessed weekend! :)
Saturday scrapping: Sometimes we learn...
I've been having massive cases of "scrap-block" the past few times I've sat down to scrap.  Argh...  Even the hubby notices it, and says I'm losing my scrapping mojo.  Perhaps its because I've hardly have a stretch of time to sit down and scrap away.  Anyway, I did get more time to scrap during the CNY period since the boy was busy playing with his grandparents, so I hastily assembled my materials and scrapped in the dining room (since our study was being used as a guest room for the in-laws).
So this was one of the projects I managed to complete while making a complete mess of the dining table:
Our Feb assignment for Papermarket was to use their new limited edition roses.  I thought I'd try something new by messing with paint in the background...
Photo of the little boy "ordering" pizza in Botanics.  I used the roses, paint, buttons, and the mini patterned papers from Sassafrass Lass Mix and Mend collection.
... but it turned out messier than I would like it to be.  (Told you, it was massive scrap block!)  Anyway, while struggling with scrapping, I think I've learnt a few lessons this round:
:: Painting is hard work.  The almost effortless splish splash of random splatters of paint on some LOs I've seen isn't easy to achieve.  Or perhaps I'm not good at painting... after all, Junior J seems to be way better at it than me.  I think I'll try to practice with him when he paints next time!
:: Hand-sewing using a uber-fine needle is painfully slow work, especially if you have to poke through many pieces of paper:
:: Both my boys are decidedly opinionated with regards to scrapbooking:  The hubby kept saying I needed to add lots of leaves to the LO to make it look like the boy was really in a garden (for a previous LO he kept telling me to add a nice bright yellow sun to it).  And the little boy insisted that I buy the Making Memories metal butterfly charms instead of the paper Prima butterflies (I think it was more because the charms made a rattling sound in the box, while the paper ones didn't!)!
Ok, gotta go, the boy is up... and we're going to make salt dough hearts! :)
Saturday scrapping: Some random stuff
Hello hello!  I hope everyone has been enjoying the Chinese New Year break?  Its been rather quiet this year with no visiting for us to do, but Junior J had all 4 grandparents hanging out with him the past few days... so I took the opportunity to finish up some scrap stuff.  I can't show them yet for various reasons, but here's some stuff I've done recently for Papermarket that I've yet to post up:
A 2011 calendar...
... with pockets for every month to keep all sorts of memorabilia...
... using a really nice vintage calendar printed from a download from Crafty Secrets (thanks, Viola, for the link!), and papers from Basic Grey's Curio collection.
Then there was a jar of yummies we were asked to alter for Sticky, which sells handmade candy (which you can find on the shelves of Papermarket too!):
Handmade roses, tiny stamped doilies and lace to decorate the jar...
I used my fav papers from Crate Paper's Restoration. :)
... which holds these happy rainbow coloured sweets!  Yum yum... sorry I can't share the sweets though, since I had to hand the jar up too! :p
OK, I gotta run now, we're off to the park!  Hope you've been having a great weekend!
Remembering all that little learning
I'm back to ramble about the LO I did for our creative team assignment that's on the Papermarket blog right now... :)  (Sorry to all non-scrapbooking folks, I'll be back to my usual other ramblings soon!)  Its all about the little boy learning his letters, words and numbers:
My task was to use tonnes of stickers.  Initially I thought of a bright, happy zoo-themed layout, but I spotted the Tim Holtz Salvage stickers and decided they suited my style better heh...
I used a Tim Holtz Type Charm too... and letter "H" was chosen since its one alphabet the boy refuses to get right.
He always says "CHAIR!" when he sees that letter.  I guess it does look like a chair, oh well...
The frame was made by rolling up pages torn from an extra copy of "The Secret Garden"... Sorry Ms Burnett! :p
For the background, I used kraft cardstock (I really love that stuff!), and then scattered Tim Holtz stencils all over the page, and inked the letters using distress ink.  Then I re-scattered the stencils and sprayed loads of red glimmer mist... so by the time I was done cleaning up it looked like I had a massive nose-bleed or something!
So there's no journalling, but every visible alphabet/picture has a significance for the boy, at 22 months:
:: Numbers ranging from 1 to 10: Can you spot them all?  The boy can recognize them all but always gets 6 and 9 mixed up.
:: License plates: We always try to identify the alphabets and numbers on cars when we go for our morning walks...
:: Apple, airplane, dog and bearbear: These are some of his most favoured words, and "dog" was one of the first things he ever said! :)
:: Pig: He loves to try to make the snorting sound when he sees pigs in picture books...
:: Grape (on the bottlecap sticker): He loves eating grapes and will ask for "gapes"... and also loves the videos about the duck that was obsessed with grapes on Youtube (have you seen those?  They're pretty funny!)
Yup, so that's the boy, at 22 months... I realized I missed that monthly milestone post, so I guess I'll have to post double when he reaches 23 months!
PS: Still a few more days of great deals at Papermarket ya, so do pop by the blog to check it out! :)
PPS: I've packed all the giveaway goodies, and will be posting the details tomorrow! :)
