Goodbye September!

Whew! September has whizzed by, and I can't believe we have less than 10 weeks before we meet baby #3 (gulp). Its been a lovely, fruitful month. We've been doing our usual messing around with art, and also managed to start doing more home-learning and playing.

We've read loads of books. And discovered a great new place to buy books. We've made lanterns, played with sparklers, and roared at dinosaurs at two different parks.

And finally, finally, we've unpacked all our boxes that came from Germany and after our renovations.

So its goodbye to our simple September. And hello October, I'm looking forward to you!

Simple September: Time with the oldest

My mum was available to babysit Lil J last Friday, so I brought Junior J out for the day. We took a train down to town (with a lot of "are we there yet?'s from him), and spent the time watching fountains, looking at pretty cakes...

... and having a good lunch together.

He brought along a friend, who helped to "feed" him lunch.
These days, the once almost vegetarian boy (who loved salads and hated any meat)
chomps on loads of meat, and is on a veggie strike.

Of course, we had to end off lunch with a dessert treat. He loves desserts very much, but thankfully he prefers to eat fruit more than sweet treats.

Yoguru with blueberries and mochi. His choice of toppings.
But I said it was ice-cream, because he said he didn't want yoghurt. :p

We also paid a visit to Public Garden, but by then he was really tired out from all the walking and we didn't stay for long. And at the end of the whole trip, we were both exhausted, but he declared he loved "Mama-J" time. (I guess he'd enjoy a trip to the zoo better, but these days my tolerance for heat has gone down a lot thanks to the pregnancy, so I'm leaving the sunny trips for days we are out together as a family!) I'm hoping that we'll be able to keep this up, being able to spend some time alone with each kid!

Simple September: Lil' paleontologist

Is it just me, or are there more tummy bugs going around these days? Junior J has been sick 3 times consecutively (he just recovered from a tummy bug that had him puking), and he gets pretty whiny when he's not feeling well.

Some time ago, he got really worked up when we read this book (we grabbed this during the SAS sale) on one of those sick days. "That is not a T-Rex!" he exclaimed. According to him, its a drawing of an Allosaurus, since T-Rex has only 2 claws on each of his front feet. I'm wondering whether I should ask him to write a letter to Mr Roberts...

P/S: Junior J was supposed to have given you a tour of the dinosaurs being showcased at the Chinese Gardens, but with all the decluttering going on, Mama has lost the camera cable, so the photos are stuck in her camera for now!

Simple September: Lunch at La Ristrettos

Recently, I met the hubby for lunch near his workplace, without the kids. Going out without the kids is rare, and so are couple dates. These days, our conversations usually take place during dinner (while we try to feed both kids and ourselves at the same time), or after the kids are asleep (by which both of us are usually exhausted after finishing the remaining household chores). So this lunch meeting, although pretty short (he had to go back to work, and I was rushing back for Lil J's nap), was quite a treat.

We had a nice meal at La Ristrettos, a cafe nestled on the 8th floor of Novena Medical Center. The coffee was good, and their breakfast menu was pretty decent. The pasta was disappointing though. (You can read a review of the place by another mum here.)

It was really nice, being able to munch our lunches, while it dripped and drizzled outside. We chatted, without having to worry about wiping dirty mouths or making sure someone didn't spill his soup. I guess these dates are going to be even rarer when #3 arrives, but I think right now we'll just enjoy whatever time we have together, be it couple time, or with the kids!

Simple September: He ain't heavy, he's my son

The hubs usually carries Lil J when we are out. Some days, the big boy also decides he wants some attention and asks to be carried too. Very rarely, it means the hubs tries carrying both! I wonder what will happen if we add baby #3 into the mix...

Simple September: Our everyday messes

This September, I'm trying to keep blogging simple. A photo a day, a glimpse into our life. Wanna join me?

Some days, the house looks like this. Wait, make this most days. But we do make the kids clean up some of their messes. My mum used to be horrified at the chaos, but is very resigned that our home will never be sparkling clean like hers. Oh well, at least we know the kids are making memories! ;)
