Thankful Tuesdays: Strawberry picking

Junior J's godmother and her sister have been in town for a visit, so we went strawberry picking together at one of the farms.  It was supposed to rain, but it turned out to be a warm, sunny day.  We spent a happy hour or so wandering amidst the strawberry field, slowly walking and searching, looking for the red berries that nestled beneath the green leaves.

As we picked the berries and chatted, it struck me how bearing fruit required a combination of factors.  The plants needed water and sunlight.  They required nutrients.  Weeding needed to be done.

And while we look mainly for the fruit, it is the leaves that make the food needed to grow those berries.  The roots, while hidden below, were the ones responsible for taking up that life-giving water from the ground.

So this week, I am thankful for the things that bring forth fruitfulness, which we tend to overlook:

:: Sunshine and rain from our Father that knows all that we need, who reminds us that we are precious to Him.

:: God's Word that brings about growth.

:: Friends and family that are like the rain, bringing refreshment to the soul.

:: Our children, who brighten up our life, and laughter, that lightens heavy hearts.

:: Gadgets and the internet that allow us to connect despite the distance.

:: Hobbies and interests that allow for moments to destress.

:: Daily provisions.  How fortunate that we do not need to worry about our next meal, or whether we have a place to rest our head at night!

What are you thankful for this week?

Mum in the Making

  1. A great post. Reminding me to remember the leaves, sunlight..etc that bring forth fruits - beautiful strawberries. All being orchestrated by our God! :)

  2. Outdoor learning is so fruitful ;)Would love to have more outdoor activities but the heat and humidity is a major deterrent for me!

  3. The strawberries look very sweet, is it sweet?

I love the fact that, that kind of weather, that kind of living pace and outdoor greenery always trigger our appreciation to the Creator and mother nature.

  4. Are the strawberries sweet? Would be great if they are...

Where is this strawberry farm btw? Hope to be able to bring the kid someday very soon

  5. Dee: Thank you and Amen!

Joce: Oh yes, I know what you mean! We're glad its cooler here, in SG its impossible to go out in the afternoon!

  6. PC: Yes, the berries were sweet! :) And yes, being out there really makes you want to praise God!

NerdyMum: Yup they were... and its in the outskirts of the city we live in (Munster), in Germany. Its strawberry season now!

    1. Hmm... that will be an expensive picking :p
Think I'll teach the kid picking in Cold storage instead haha
