You are my sunshine!

Hello!  Yesterday, I got a few emails from my supervisor about my dissertation, and it turns out that I need to make major changes since I followed the wrong format while writing it.  SIGH.  I think I'm really not cut out for scientific research, I'm just too scatterbrained in my thinking!

I got all stressed up thinking about all the re-typing I had to do, and ended up working on it yesterday, so I abandoned my "Monday Made" project.  (Sorry, it'll be done next week!)  However, after writing for awhile, I hit a wall, and decided to give myself a break and do one final scrappy piece (Final as in, I'll stop until I finish that darn dissertation!)

Since my mood was rather black, I went with a happy colour theme: Sunny yellow and bright green.  Everything was geared towards cheerfulness, from the glitter cardstock to the rays of sunlight (That was a Bo Bunny paper, which was just the thing!).  I used my favourite patterns and embellishments, adding loads of flowers and brads, a couple of dewdrops, teardrops and buttons... as well as polka dot and flower patterns (all Bo Bunny!) and ribbons:

The section behind the words were distressed lightly with ink,
to make the words stand out more!
To up the cheeriness even more, I added some bunting by cutting out triangles from the patterned papers I was using.  I don't know why but there's something really festive when you hang up bunting on a piece!  :)  And I got to use stamps for the wordings (that was from American Crafts), plus to decorate a few flowers punched out of cardstock (you have to look really hard though, since they are behind the buttons and dewdrops.)... and I had so much fun stamping, I stamped a big flower (again, Bo Bunny!) at the bottom of the piece, and added a chipboard heart...

And I made a pinwheel out of scraps of patterned paper I had left.  Again, there's something so cheery about pinwheels!  (And yes, the piece is about our little ray of sunshine of course!)  To add more dimension, I made an extra pinwheel behind the first one using yellow cardstock, and stamped a flower pattern (using a Bo Bunny stamp) on the inside to add more oomph, then I joined everything using a glitter brad.  The handle of the pinwheel was made by rolling up one of the scraps of patterned paper into a tube, then I finished it off by tying a ribbon around it...

And here it is (get your sunglasses ready...), our little sunbeam at 17 weeks, surrounded by cheery, sunshiny goodness! :)

Supplies: Patterned paper
(Bo Bunny: Peacock Lane, Flirty Flowers, Petal Pushers & Sun Kissed Skies)
Flowers (Prima), Brads (Basic Grey, American Crafts)
Buttons (Basic Grey: Nook & Pantry), Lettering (Thickers: Puffy Chitchat)
Dewdrops & Teardrops (The Robin's Nest), Chipboard sticker (Cosmo Cricket)
Stamps (Bo Bunny: Sunburst & Falling 4U, American Crafts)
Looking at this makes me feel way better!  Will be back later for "Thankful Tuesdays"!  Ta!
