Make: A tag for baby

I've been teaching scrapbooking techniques to some homeschooling kids for the past few weeks. Recently, I wanted to teach them how to up-cycle CDs into tags that they could personalize and hang on their room door. As I planned, I thought a sample tag would be good, but then I realized that all the tags I've made (you can see examples here, here, here, here and here) were gifts and I didn't have any of our own!

In the end, I decided to make one for baby J, since I've yet to scrap anything for him, plus the older two might end up joining the co-op session and can make their own tags if so. (It's really true, the scrap creations you make for each child progressively get lesser!)

So I covered the CD with scrap paper, stuck a contrasting strip of paper as the background for his name, and added Thickers. Then I dressed it up with a bird (cut out using the Big Shot), added bunting using bits of washi tape, and piled on some flowers and leaves and a butterfly. (I chose to add the bird, butterfly and flowers as these are some of the baby's favourite things currently.) And Taada! A tag just for the baby!

The kids had fun making their own tags, and will be making more cards and tags to sell at the upcoming craft fair. I'll write more about it next time!

Monday Made: A baby album for #2

We now have a new tradition, of making a baby album for each of our boys as a keepsake. Both Junior J and Lil J enjoy hearing stories about how they were like when they were babies, especially when they see how tiny Baby J is now! Junior J received his album during Lil J's full month celebration, and you can view his album over here, and more pages can be found here.

I thought it would be nice to give Lil J his during Baby J's full month. However, the kids all fell sick (even the baby wasn't spared), so I only managed to finish the album recently, but better late than never! So here's how the inside pages look:

The album papers were from Crate Paper's "Little Boy Blue" collection, while most of the embellies were chipboard stickers, die-cuts and stuff cut out from Cosmo Cricket and October Afternoon papers. I especially love the papers and stickers form Cosmo Cricket's "Togetherness" collection, so suitable for albums for families and babies!

Now that this album is finished, I'm hoping to start on Project Life, since I'm finding 12x12 layouts and mini albums a lil hard to complete these days. Am not too used to scrapping so "flat" (I like my layouts to be lumpy and layered!), but I think it'll be a great way to capture memories without spending too much time agonizing about the embellies to stick on. We'll see how that goes!

... and a pink pearl flourish, along with some Dear Lizzy papers and embellishments.

And there you have it, a simple little sign that could go on the nursery room door!

Today, I'm sharing a mini album that I made as a farewell gift to a bible study group mate. We planned to fill up part of the album with photos, and leave the rest of the pages blank for her to fill up with her memories of Singapore. So this is a simple album, with patterned paper inside:

... and lots of Zva embellishments on the cover! I used this huge pink bloom, as well as leaves from their collection:

... as well as a pearl flourish with some wood veneer butterflies, which were coloured with some pink distress ink.

A very simple album, which I hope the new owner loves!

Saturday Scrapping: 35-36 months

It's going to be a really busy weekend as my mum is coming up to visit, plus we'll be doing house repairs. Next week is going to be a really packed too! So I'm just popping by to share two of the pages of Junior J's milestones album which I recently completed (yes I'm really behind!):

Embellies are mainly from Echo Park's "This and That" collection. I really love that line! And of course, the crystals and pearls are from Zva Creative. Gotta run now, here's to a blessed weekend ahead!

Saturday scrapping: Personalized notebooks

Hello! How has your week been? I've been busy sorting out our home-learning activities... but I'm just hopping by to share some personalized notebooks. These were made for a lovely couple that we got to know over here in Germany. They are extremely well to do, and I was cracking my head about what to give them for Christmas (what do you get someone who has everything they want?). I guess in such cases, handmade stuff is always the way to go!

So both got a notebook, which got decorated with scrap stuff and washi tape. It was fun scrapping in pink again:

Flowers, leaves & pearl flourish from Zva Creative, paper from Crate Paper, lettering from Basic Grey.

And for the guy version, I kept it simple:

How is your weekend going to be? For us its going to be days of sub-zero temperatures... brrrr... Have a blessed weekend!

Saturday scrapping: 2 little sketchbooks

Over the Christmas period, I managed to make two simple sketchbooks as presents. These were just bound using twine, with washi tape to hold the twine in place (I really want to learn proper bookbinding in the future!). Here's one for a little boy:

Paper and rocket die-cut from the "Children at Play" collection from Making Memories.

I used a crystal flourish from Zva Creative, pasted it on white cardstock and trimmed it, to make the bling stand out more from the stripes:

And one for a little girl (I really miss working in pink!):

Papers from American Crafts (lots of Dear Lizzy!), leaves and pearls from Zva Creative

Am hoping these would be put to good use by their recipients. Junior J's own sketchbook is filling up and getting very battered, so I think it might be time to make him a new one too! Blessed weekend!
