Thankful Tuesdays: It was one of those days

“And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin.
Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these.
If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire,
will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? ……
But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well."
- Matthew 6:28-30, 33
We had quite a day.  The hubby had a busy call the night before, and barely got to sleep.  He and I just came down with a cold and spent the day sniffling, and he decided to cancel our DG meeting as he couldn't lead the study with his bad throat.  We brought the little boy to hospital to get his review blood tests done along with his booster jabs, and ended up having to spend almost 4 hours in the hospital as the blood tests got held up at the lab.  The phlebotomist let the needle slip while collecting blood, so the boy had to be poked on both hands in order to draw enough blood for the tests, and he got two jabs, one on each thigh, so the poor fellow ended up getting poked 4 times, once on each limb.  The boy went down for his nap late, so we all had dinner late.  While I was feeding the boy dinner, the hubby put the electric kettle on (while the contact point was wet) and plunged the whole house into darkness... so the boy ate the last few mouthfuls by the light of the iPhone.  Then after I put the boy to bed, I came out to the kitchen to find that the dog had thrown a temper tantrum and peed on the floor... and had stepped all over the pee puddle.  I cleaned up the mess, only to have the little boy wake up crying for milk, which he promptly then coughed and threw up.  So I took the dirty sheets to the kitchen toilet, to find that for some odd reason, the cistern had a huge crack and was leaking water.  The hubby couldn't repair the leak, so we had to use raffia to tie the lever thing inside the cistern to the toilet paper roll holder to prevent the thing from refilling (and leaking more water).

Plastered with plasters...

What a day eh?  But even as I sit here, exhausted from a busy day and mildly anxious because my dissertation writing has hit a wall for a long time, I can't help being thankful because:

:: I am constantly reminded that God takes care of us.  He provides and sometimes gives so generously.  He blesses and we are so so blessed in many many ways.

:: We took the boy's height and weight and it shows that he has gained in both aspects, which is a huge relief!

:: All the blood work is sorted out, along with the boy's jabs.  The results that have come out show that the boy's haemoglobin is going up, and the doctor can't feel his spleen and liver, which shows the swelling has gone down.  Thank God!

:: The boy was quite a trooper for all the needles.  He cried, but he didn't fuss after that.  And he was very interested in his plasters (especially the gingerbread man one that I brought for him), and also got to stick another plaster on his bear bear.

:: Mealtimes have improved as his appetite seems better.  He slurped down bits of pasta during our lunch at Delifrance while waiting for the blood tests to be done, and happily fed himself bits of baked beans during dinner.

:: I caught the bug before the boy did, so if he falls sick, it'll be a milder version since he'll be getting antibodies in breastmilk.

:: I received some really great news via email today.  It might not work out for some reasons, but if it does, it'll be quite a dream come true... Whatever the case, it'll be another great push for me to finish my dissertation as it'll be making my next few months busier!

:: There is this little imp of a boy that brings so much sunshine to my life.  He may be starting his terrible twos, but his cheekiness and his laughter really brighten up our days.  Just look at him!  (For the record, we never taught the fellow how to dance.  One day he heard the song, ran and grabbed his hat, and started this funny dance routine.  It never fails to crack me up!)

So as I munch my very late supper of home-made toast topped with baked beans and cheese, and slurp my cup of milo, I say a prayer and thank God for all that He's blessed me with.

What are you thankful for today?

  2. Sounds like a bad case of Murphy's law on Tuesday. Days like this are really challenging and without the Lord's strength, I wonder how anyone will be able to take it.

Love your Thankful Tuesdays posts. They always remind me to be always thankful of my loved ones, what I have and most importantly WHO I am in ;)
