Saturday scrapping: In a pumpkin patch!

Hello hello!  Ok, its not Saturday yet, but for most of you the weekend has already started right?  :)  The week has been nuts, but I'm glad I managed to get some writing done for my dissertation.  I took a rest after I managed to sort out one section of my report, and of course, started scrapping... Heehee.

If you've been following this blog for awhile, you've read that we went to Yunnan, China last year, and we snapped a few shots of Junior J sitting amidst some pumpkins at a village. He was even wearing a Pumpkin Patch jacket!  I've been wanting to scrap those pumpkin shots, and when I saw this layout on Sketchy Thursdays requiring a photo in a circle, this shot immediately came to mind! :)

So here what I did:

The large sunflower border was made using petals cut out from paper and inked,
plus a doily that was glimmer misted.  The blue background was made using glimmer mist
on white cardstock, and a wooden "air-freshener" thing from Daiso as a mask.

Little hedgehog, to match the one on the jacket the boy was wearing in the photo.
I liked how it seems like its blowing all the dandelions away!

The title.  Oddly enough, this set of Thickers only had 2 "P"s,
so I had to take an "R" and cut the tail off!

Journalling, which runs along the border of the stem and leaf.  Click to view larger!

And finally, the full piece:
Layout: Sketchy Thursdays
Supplies: White cardstock, Doily (SKP)
Patterned paper (American Crafts: Letterbox, Basic Grey: Nook & Pantry)
Chipboard stickers (Cosmo Cricket: Earth Love)
Lettering (AC Thickers: Emerald)
Ink pads (Versafine: Vintage Sepia & Spanish Moss)
Glimmer mists (Tattered Angels: Electric Blue & Mustard Seed)

Have a great weekend, everyone!

  4. What a fresh palette of colours, just like a spring garden. Cropping and framing your pic with the large flower head is inspired.

I have a giveaway on my blog if you have the time : http://angsandy.blogspot.com/2010/08/kck-has-blog.html

  11. Ruth: Thanks! There are online tutorials and sites you could visit to learn, and I could email you guidelines if you want!

Diana: Thanks for popping by! Loved the sketch.

Kira: Heeeheee, thanks. I'm wondering by then if he thinks his mum is just some sentimental old lady, hahaha...

Sandy: Thanks! Will pop by to visit!

Bing: Thanks! For glimmer mist, it depends on what colours you tend to scrap with. I tend to gravitate towards yellow and blue so I bought those 2 colours... Blue is great since you can do all those clouds and sky and stuff, but really it depends on your style. :)

Jo: Thanks girl for all that encouragement! You've been a great inspiration to me, you know... and I have you to thank for all the great stuff and for starting me off on this hobby! :)

    Julie: Thanks! :)

Jennifer: Thanks for popping by... :)

Melanie: Oh, thank you! The hop was fun...

    Heidi: Thanks!

PC: Hey thank you for the well wishes, the piece didn't make it, but its one more layout for the album! :)
