Saturday scrapping: Inspired by Donna Downey

Hello hello... I spent part of my free time this week watching videos over at Donna Downey's blog, since our Papermarket assignment for the month was to create a layout inspired by Donna's style.  Initially, I was really stuck since I'm not too used to mixed media and the like (and playing with paints just scares me), but watching her videos can really inspire you!  (Btw, Donna Downey will be here and will be teaching in Creative Escape on the 30th of April, and you can even win a spot by submitting layouts inspired by Donna!)

So I used a photo taken in Yangmingshan recently... added loads of fussy-cut flowers (from Crate Paper's Portrait collection):

And threw in a Donna foam stamp and happy paint colours:

All the flowers remind me of the glorious spring blossoms over in Taiwan... Walking through those sakura trees in bloom was quite a "magical" experience. :)  (can you spot the word "magic"?  Its courtesy of "The Secret Garden" again.  Heee.)

Patterned papers and old book pages were lightly painted with white and yellow paint...

Actually I was torn between using yellow and blue flowers, or red and blue flowers.  The hubby, opinionated as always about these matters, told me to go with red.  What do you think?  Red, or yellow?

Gotta go, hope you're having a great weekend thus far!
